THE EXOTIC ADVENTURER : Dive into paradise with me!

Hi, I am Niyaz, the chief dive instructor at Taj Exotica Water Sports Centre and it’s my job to make your diving and snorkeling experience in the Maldives truly spectacular.   (Do I have the best job in the world? Some of my pals with stressful, white-collar jobs in big cities certainly think so!)

I’ll be there with my team to welcome you at my ‘office’ set amidst sparkling blue water, right at the main arrival jetty. But first, a thorough orientation is what we start you off  Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives with.

Some lessons you’ll easily pick up

 

Our day starts early, deciding the best diving sites based on the tide, current, and very important, your level of skill. We have two daily boat dives: at 9am and 3pm—and all sites are between 20-40 minute boat rides from the hotel. Snorkeling is at 9.30 am and 4 pm.  Rest assured that we have the most experienced staff who will brief you on land first, on what to expect, teach safety tips, hand signals for easy communication…and of course how to have the time of your life!

If you are thinking now “but I’m not really confident of snorkeling”, relax! You’ll learn in no time at all in our lagoon; how to breathe, float and kick using a pair of fins, mask and snorkel. Many beginners have found it so easy to master!

If you’re more adventurous and want to scuba dive, a  classroom lecture will give you the basics; then you’ll practice that in the lagoon…and slowly do the same with 8 metres of water. All nice and easy! And then what if you’re here to take excitement to a new level? Sign up for courses from Open Water to Advance, or even the Rescue Diver Course.

Highest safety standards, and Nitrox diving  too

Apart from the international safety standards here, we provide  Nitrox Diving equipment, ie, you breathe an enriched mix of oxygen  underwater, just as professional divers do around the world. Stay down much longer, come upto the surface for shorter intervals, and head down again. More time to enjoy the wonders of life below! We also have new diver scooters now, so you can cover more areas without getting tired .

The amazing experience can be life-changing.  Earlier, an audio visual would’ve educated you on what to look for, in the incredible variety of marine life. You’ll enjoy ‘Finding Nemo’,  Maldives’ very own orange-coloured fish with a white stripe.  Oriental Sweetlips will bowl you over with her seductive upper-lip. And look out for Cleaner Wrasse, a  ‘dentist’ that swims into big fish mouths to clean them out of dead skin!  One lesson you’ll never forget: underwater life never harms as long as you don’t provoke them.

The best part is, a professional videographer will be right at hand, to shoot your experiences, and maybe you can put it all up on YouTube or your Facebook page and share your adventures with us, when you get home.

THE EXOTIC ADVENTURER – Be a sport and join in

Taj Exotica attracts underwater enthusiasts from around the world, for its amazing diving and snorkeling experiences. Now what about those of you who want to stay above the water!

I am Niyaz who heads our Waters Sports Centre, and while you may have come here to just relax and gaze at the beauty of this piece of paradise, your holiday would be incomplete if you didn’t enjoy some wonderful activities we’ve organized for you. We have two options here: Non-Motorized and Motorized Water Sports. All non-motorised sports are with our compliments for our guests, and I have rarely met a guest who hasn’t tried one of these! Especially since experienced guides will sail with you till you build up confidence. So set off on your kayak, windsurf, or enjoy a catamaran ride…there are courses from simple fun rides to adventurous trips; plus beginner sailing courses to intermediate courses too. Motorised or power sports include jetskis, waterskis and inflatables. This can be exhilarating! Instructors can accompany you to get the hang of it, or you can drive it individually or with your partner if you’re confident. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure you’re totally familiar with your Jet Ski’s functions as well as the area you are driving in before you take off…

Want to go the next level of water skiing? Then get yourself a knee board, double or single or a wake board; we can teach even beginners how to stand up in no time at all.

Be a bird for a day

Okay, we’ve kept one more awesome treat, and possibly the easiest, for last! Our parasailing boat will take you upto 80 metres in the air, with the assurance of total safety as you take off like a bird…and land gently back in your boat. You’ll enjoy 15 minutes of the most breathtaking views ever from high above, as the magnificent hotel atolls look like sparkling green jewels nestling in a setting of aquamarine.

Our safety standards are of the highest order, and our experienced team will be happy to guide and protect you always–and give you a boost of confidence to get the best out of your holiday here.
